Rules and Regulations for Residence Halls

Room visitation and lounge hours for all buildings:

 Sunday-Thursday—12 noon until 12 midnight

 Friday & Saturday—12 noon until 2:00 am

 Overnight guest arrangements must be made through the Residence Hall RD.

 Residents are responsible for the for the behavior of their guests and must inform them of the housing policies.

 

Students must notify the RA or RD if leaving the campus for the weekend, holiday visits or for extended periods of time.

 

Cohabitation is prohibited.

 

Public areas of residence halls are equipped with monitoring equipment.  Rooms assigned to students will not be monitored by security equipment.

 

Classroom attire will be worn in all public areas.  

 

All WVSU residence halls honor ‘quiet hours’ from 10:00 pm to 10:00 am.  Noise levels during other hours should be low enough not to disturb others.  Practicing musical instruments is permitted in designated areas only.

 

Do not prop open exterior doors.

 

Residence Hall staff make periodic, announced checks of all residence hall rooms. 

 Unannounced checks can be performed under special circumstances at the discretion of the staff

 Periodic checks are not searches, but are performed to identify health, safety and maintenance problems.

 

All residence halls are smoke-free environments.

 

Burning candles, incense or other such ‘open flame’ luminaries are not permitted.

 

Firearms and weapons are prohibited.  These include, but are not limited to:

 Guns and ammunition

 Hunting knives

 Bows and arrows

 Switchblades and similar knives

 Explosives, including fireworks

 

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in residence halls.

 

Individuals are not allowed on rooftops, ledges or balconies without permission of the RD. 

 

Pets are not allowed in or near the residence halls. 

 Visiting pets are also prohibited

 Fish in tanks not larger than 10 gallons will be allowed in student rooms

 

 

These rules apply to all residence halls.  Be sure you also review the rules that are applicable to your hall.  All rules listed in the Student Handbook, The Buzz, governing student conduct shall be observed.
