SGA Student Hearings Council The Judicial Branch |
|
Seven Student Hearing Examiners are appointed by the SGA President with the approval of the Senate. The Student Hearing Examiner’s functions are: ruling on SGA constitutional questions within the Student Government Association; serving as the judiciary hearing body in student discipline cases referred to it by the Vice-president of Student Affairs; certifying the validity of the annual SGA general election should a question arise; and, in general, performing all other judicial functions as they become necessary.
The Chief Hearing Examiner presides over the Student Hearing Examiners, making and interpreting decisions rendered by the Associate Hearing Examiners. This person chairs the Election Committee, ensuring compliance of Election Rules and Regulations. The Chief Hearing examiner interprets the SGA Constitution and Bylaws at the request of any member, and the rulings and bindings overruled by majority vote of those present and voting. The Chief Hearing Examiner researches legal questions and advises the SGA President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Social Activities Director, and Student senate on matters of a constitutional or statutory nature. |
